Pat Jurgens

As a writer, Pat Jurgens brings a broad wealth of experience to her pen. Wanderlust led her from New England south to graduate from Duke University, east to India for study abroad, and west to the University of Denver for a master’s degree. Colorado, where she raised her much-loved children Judy and Gary, has been home for nearly six decades.

Over the years she has taken leadership in government, the nonprofit sector, and business: managing a public library, developing an international homestay start-up, and assisting people in transition for corporate relocation. She has trained employees and facilitated groups, and lectured in Kunming, China.

Since moving to Evergreen, Colorado in 2000, Pat has published more than fifty essays, biographical sketches, and historical articles in local and regional magazines. She also dabbles in memoir and poetry, contributing to several anthologies and winning awards from the Denver Women’s Press Club, Poetry Society of Colorado, and Jefferson County Historical Commission. Falling Forward, a Woman’s Journey West is her first novel.

Pat’s passion for travel and interest in other cultures has taken her to Europe and Asia, Mexico and the Caribbean, Australia, and New Zealand. Her enthusiasm for the natural world extends from the Rockies to the Himalayas, yet she loves her old log cabin home where she walks the trails with her husband, Carl, and rescue dog, Zoe.
